THE UNSCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH GOD

FROM THE DAWGHOUSE…

THE UNSCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH GOD

It was 12:30 AM Wednesday.  Yesterday.  I’d slipped into a sleep coma just a few hours earlier when as usual, nature called.

And then I realized as I got up that I really hadn’t been sleeping well anyway and the reason for my restlessness was that the outline, and major points of an article I said I’d write for my denomination…about…what else?…my calling…Men… had been bubbling up in my brain.

I’ve learned that I can make an appointment with God in the morning and He always shows up, but that He’s my God, King, and Father who can summon me any time He wants to meet with Him.  He is sovereign over history and over my time too!

I used to freak out when He did that so early in the morning because then I knew the day might be in peril, what with all my appointments I had lined up…I mean a pastor should be a reasonably kind person most of the time, don’t you think?

Well, a King doesn’t have to wait.  And He knows me well and knows He has my full attention at that time of the day (night!).  And I can go to bed early tonight.

Well, a good bit of the article poured out, and then some.  By 2AM I headed back to unconsciousness…truth be known, semi-unconsciousness.

How does God make unscheduled appointments with you?  I’m positive He does.

How do you respond?  Do you write down what you hear Him say in those moments of clarity?  (Do it!)

Learning to listen to Him is the most enjoyable and supernatural part of being His son.

Psalm 5:1-3

For the music director; for flute accompaniment. A Psalm of David.

1 Listen to my words, Lord,
Consider my sighing.
Listen to the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God,
For to You I pray.
In the morning, Lord, You will hear my voice;
In the morning I will present my prayer to You and be on the watch.

Make your Daily Appointment With God.  He WILL show up!

But remember that He can make an appointment with you any time He wants.

Will you show up?

It’s a great joy!

You take it to heart!
