Cross Fit-The strength that matters most…

Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies…Ephesian 6:10-11

Over the last few weeks both Pete and I have written about time in our DAWG stirring a greater awareness of how satan is at work in the world, in others, and even in us as FORGE Men.  This week as Pete talked about man’s rebellion, seen first in Genesis 3, we were reminded of the reality regarding how satan was at work from the very beginning of humanity.  If you missed his talk, go to www.ForgeTruth.com to listen!

My DAWG over the last few weeks has given me a greater awareness and consistent specific reminders of the spiritual warfare in my life.  I see this in my lack of patience with people I love most and how I tend to make judgements about people and demonize them.  Often this happens so I feel better about myself.

Scotty Smith has said…we easily forget our greatest enemies in life aren’t people, but principalities and powers.

So, what do I do?  What do we do as FORGE Men?  The Holy Spirit has been teaching me that I need to be playing defense by fighting the devil by resistance.  But even more powerful is the importance of going on offense by preaching the Gospel to myself and also allowing others to preach the Gospel to me, which happens each week as we sit around the table with our TEAM at FORGE.

Scotty goes on to say

Though the devil’s head was crushed on the cross, his eradication will happen at Jesus’ return.  Knowing his time is short, the devil, overtly and covertly, seeks to harm everything you treasure and cherish. As FORGE Men, we need to ask the Holy Spirit to help us recognize his snarly schemes and prowling ways.  As Pete taught us well about this in our last series in JamesSubmit and surrender to God, Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

As FORGE Men, our greatest peace and protection is not found in juggling and adjusting our self-made armorSome trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember and trust in the name of the LORD our God.

Psalms 20:7

Put on the Lord Jesus Christ…Romans 13:14

As surely as we get dressed each day, so we mustput on the Lord Jesus Christ.  Jesus doesn’t just give us armor, He is our armorour righteousness, our holiness, our redemption.

Our DAWG will fuel not just our awareness and understanding of spiritual battles from satan but also remind us that self-reliance will not win the battle.  Our good, good Father then strengthens us as His word reminds us of His all sufficiency for the battles we face!

I think King David would have been a FORGE Man.  He says…

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.  He only is my rock and my salvation; My fortress and my defense, I will not be shaken!
