FROM THE DAWGHOUSE…

                        Indecision

That little dude almost bought it this morning.  It was a near collision of metal to flesh that almost happened.  It would have been a crushing death due to indecision. In fact I think I clipped one of his legs…a near death experience for him.

More days than I can count my DAWG continues on from my desk to the Cross Seminole Trail as I pound out a few miles on my mountain bike. Thinking with the Lord in His word at my desk carries over to thinking with the Lord as I ride on the trail.  With the Father a dialogue begins in my DAWG and never has to fully end. I was still listening today as I rode. Forgive me if I repeat myself on squirrel messages, but it’s part of my world to almost run into them and it never ceases to amaze me.

Their indecision I mean.
Squirrels by Divine design (and maybe the Fall-Genesis 3) seem to be so intent on eating, ie, doing their own thing/ ie, what they do best, and trusting in their speed that they sit in the middle of the trail and are surprised when a mammoth machine from their perspective is upon them.  They are caught unawares and then try and outrun the enemy and then dart left and then right and then left and then right and don’t seem to know what direction to go and are sometimes deadly wrong.  Being squirrely can kills you.

Witness their carcasses in the street when our little furry friends choose wrongly with cars.  Ok, full disclosure:  I ran over one the other day and he got a way limping.  I mean it was his fault, not mine.  A bike is never as dangerous as a car when you’re a squirrel.
But indecision is always dangerous for squirrels and men.

Which is why I hate missing a Daily Appointment with God my Father, and listening to the voice of my Lord Jesus mediated through the Holy Spirit.  It keeps me from deadly indecision on whatever overtakes me on my daily trail.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.”
Psalm 32:8
“…And lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age.”
  Matthew 28:20
“…for He Himself has said, ‘I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.”
   Hebrews 13:5
My early morning daily dose of God always, always has time-release properties like a time-release pill that guide me through the day.  When I get squirrely and out of touch with reality around me, it seems the Father has no problem tapping me on the shoulder to warn me to move, and gives me what I need to make better decisions.  You know, a continual flow of God’s Holy Word into a man’s mind and heart always guides his feet.  Indecision is diminished when we men know right and wrong, wisdom and foolishness.  It keeps us from blowing up our lives at work and our families at home.
These words often motivate me:
“Mediocrity is a region bounded on the north by compromise, on the south by indecision, on the east by past thinking, and on the west, by a lack of vision.”            John Mason
The Gospel of Grace provides us with a Father, because of the Son!  The Spirit of God meets us in the morning in His Word, and speaks to us through the Word of God, so that we don’t just live each day so preoccupied and doing our own thing and trusting in our own speed/resources to make life work.
Ya I might as well say what I’m thinking:  Great men aren’t squirrely. Don’t amaze someone with your indecision. Think God’s thoughts after Him daily.  Learn to think like God. God’s men get grounded in the morning, so they can keep their feet on the ground all day- For God’s glory, their good, and the good of everyone they meet.

Take it to Heart!
